What does the Bible say about Eternal Life?

 

Verse to memorize:  John 3:16

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

Heaven:  God's Gift to Us

 

Q1    Who came to live on earth so we can have God's gift of heaven, also called salvation?

John 3:16

"For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life."

 

Q2    What does the Bible say is God's gift to man?

Romans 6:23

"For the wages of sin is death; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

 

Q3    How can someone receive this free gift of eternal life?

Romans 10:9-11?

"9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.
10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.
11 For the scripture saith, Whosoever believeth on him shall not be ashamed. "

 

Salvation:  Only From Christ

 

Q4    Who must we trust go be saved?

Acts 16:31?

"And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved..."

 

Q5    How is Jesus described in John 10:9?

John 10:9

"I am the door: by me if any man enter in, he shall be saved, and shall go in and out, and find pasture."

 

Q6    According to Acts 4:12, is it possible to receive God's gift of eternal life from anyone or anyplace other than from Jesus?

Acts 4:12

"Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved."

 

Q7    How did Jesus show He loved us?

Romans 5:8

"But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us."

 

Q8    According to 1 Corinthians 15:3-6, what did Jesus do for us so we may receive God's gift (this is what mean by the gospel - God's good news)?

Salvation: A Free Gift

 

Q9    What does Romans 3:24 tell us about the cost to us of God's justification (a result of our salvation)?

Romans 3:24

"Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus."

 

Q10    In Revelation 22:17, what is the cost to drink the water of life?

Revelation 22:17

"And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely."

 

Q11    Romans 8:32 tells us God is willing to "___ give us all things" (fill in the blank).

"He that spared not his own Son, but delivered him up for us all, how shall he not with him also freely give us all things?"

 

Salvation:  How do we get it?

 

Q12    According to Romans 10:9, what two things must we do to receive God's gift of eternal life?

Romans 10:9

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

 

Q13    2 Timothy 3:15 tells us where we can learn about God's gift of salvation.  Where do we learn about it?

"And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus."

 

Q14    1 John 1:9 tells us about God's forgiveness. What do we have to do for God to forgive our sins?

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

 

Q15    John 5:24 tells us what we receive after we hear God's words about the gospel of Jesus Christ.
